Matt Carrithers

Louisville native Matt had just gotten his associates degree in business when his love for food finally won him over. He turned right back around and followed that passion to culinary school at Sullivan University where he received a second degree in culinary arts. Post Sullivan graduation, Matt started working in the kitchen of a high end hotel in Louisville. He claims that he was “like a sponge at that time soaking up every ounce of knowledge about food wine and most importantly the service industry as a business.” After a few more years of experience in the industry, Matt landed himself as executive chef for a foodservice company. Matt joined the Drake’s family in 2014 as the kitchen manager of our Paddock Shops location. He became well acquainted with all parts of our business working as a front of house manager and bar manager before being named managing partner of Drake's Cool Springs in 2017. Matt was called home to Louisville and spent some time managing at Drake’s St. Matthews before opening Drake’s Hurstbourne as managing partner in the fall of 2021. When he’s not at work you can find Matt watching a U of L game, playing with his two boxers Lilly and Bernie, or enjoying a craft brew.
